Going to Antwerp soon? MoMU (Mode Museum) hosts the most sculptural exhibition I’ve seen in long time, in fashion that is. Madame Grès is the famously curated haute couture designer who’s sculptural designs are shown in a magnificent atmosphere. “I wanted to be a sculptor. For me, it’s the same thing to work the fabric or the stone” – Madame Grès (1903 / 1993).
Madame Grès maybe is the pioneer of the seamless garment. Because of her draping and stitching on the mannequin directly, her pieces become more spectacular over periods of time. Every design highlights feminine fashion.
